YogaWorks, the industry leader in yoga practice and teacher training, is offering a special fundraising class, Stand Together, to benefit the yoga activist organization Off the Mat, Into the World and its Empowered Youth Initiative at the upcoming Tadasana Festival. This unique opportunity to practice for a good cause will be held in the YogaWorks tent during the 3-day Tadasana Festival on Santa Monica Beach on Earth Day Weekend, April 20 – 22, 2012. Participants will be led by an incredible roster of highly respected instructors, Off the Mat co-founder Seane Corn; Lisa Walford, the woman largely responsible for writing and compiling the Yogaworks Teacher Training manual; Kathryn Budig, author of Rodale’s forthcoming The Big Book of Yoga; Kia Miller, founder of the popular DVD series, “Radiant Body Yoga;” and Yogaworks Teacher Trainer Joan Hyman.
“We are so honored to support the Tadasana Festival and to host this special class to benefit the amazing work being done at Off the Mat, Into the World,” said Phil Swain, chief executive officer at YogaWorks. “It’s always exciting to bring together the top teachers in the yoga community for this special weekend of yoga and philanthropy.”
Founded by top yoga instructors Seane Corn, Suzanne Sterling and Hala Khouri in 2007, Off the Mat, Into the World is mobilizing yogis and activists to serve the global community. Through leadership training, community collaboration, and local and global service projects, OTM uses the power of yoga to drive conscious, sustainable action and ignite grassroots social change. The Empowered Youth Initiative is Off the Mat’s commitment to serving youth in the United States. This outreach program works to reverse the disruptive cycles facing city youth in LA and other urban centers through training and education.
“We are thrilled to be in partnership with Tadasana Festival,” says Kerri Kelly, OTM’s Director of Possibility. “Their intention of gathering the community to stand together for the planet aligns perfectly with Off the Mat, Into the World’s commitment to taking the power of yoga out into the world in the form of collective action and service.“
“It’s an honor to be in a position to support Off the Mat, Into the World as it inspires the yoga community to take the benefits that they receive from their practice and turn it into powerful programs for positive activism around the world,” says Tadasana co-founder Tommy Rosen.
Stand Together will be held on Saturday, April 21 from 12:30-2:30 pm. Tickets are $50. 100% of proceeds will go directly to the Empowered Youth Initiative. Class attendees must have purchased a festival ticket in order participate in this very special class. YogaWorks will also be opening their doors throughout the festival by offering free yoga classes to all festival ticket holders.
